This or That Book Tag 5!

I’m here again with more tags! I was tagged by two people this time: Sophie @ Blame It On Chocolate and Reader @ Readers Rule! Thank you to you both! Everyone needs to check out their blogs because they’re great!

  • Mention the creator of the tag (Ayunda @ Tea and Paperbacks)
  • Thank the blogger who tagged you
  • Choose one of the options, you don’t have to tell the reasons why you chose that but you can also do them if you want to.
  • Tag other people to do this tag to spread the love!

Reading on the couch or on the bed?

On the couch! Usually I read on a reclining chair, but the couch is the most likely place you will find me.

Male main character or female main character?

I don’t mind reading either. I used to just like girl POVs, but I’ve been reading more guy POVs lately. Sometimes I’ll even have books with both, which is always interesting to see.

Sweet snacks or salty snacks?

Salty. I like to eat a lot of chips or leftover food. I like sweets too, but I just don’t eat them as much now.

Trilogies or quartets?

Trilogies, because I don’t always like longer series. Sometimes I feel like the plot just drags on, and so I like shorter series.

First person POV or third POV?

Either, but mainly third. It’s hard to explain, but I tend to like a character in third person because I feel like I can know them more by their actions. First person POVs have a chance at being over dramatic sometimes. It’s just something that I’ve noticed with the characters. (I didn’t really explain it well, but I think you get the gist.)

Reading at night or in the morning?

I read more at night because, oddly, I feel like I retain more at night. I can read during the morning, but I usually sleep through it. 😅

Libraries or bookstores?

I love bookstores, but I’m starting to appreciate libraries a lot more. Books are free, and there’re resources for you to use.

Books that make you laugh or books that make you cry?

I like to laugh, so I would try to grab any YA/Manga comedy that I could find.

Black book covers or white covers?

Black because it doesn’t stain as much. I don’t like putting books in my backpack because I’m afraid that it’ll get pencil markings.

Character driven or plot driven?

I talk about plot a lot, but I prefer characters any day. A book is likable because of the characters that we read about, and they make a large impression on us. So it’s important to have a good book with good characters.

  1. Oh yay, you’ve done this one! 😀
I completely agree on the POVs question – I used to love first person but then kind of got tired of it and even annoyed? Like you said, it just came off as over-dramatic at times and very self-involved in my opinion. Some are okay but most just irk me. So I tend to prefer third person, as I can both distance myself from the character and have access to way more information.
You mentioned getting your books dirty on your backpack… Have you tried book sleeves? They can be customized and are both beautiful and super useful! There are some famous ones like Book Beau and such, but you can get them pretty much anywhere these days. They’re quite handy! I personally don’t use them but I know people who do and swear by them 🙂
    Great post! ❤

    1. Exactly! I feel as though I can sometimes get more out of reading from an outside perspective. Whereas sometimes the story or chapter isn’t as constricted to the thoughts of only one character. Also I do sometimes get annoyed with first person POVs. If the character is not a great one, the voice of that character will sound over dramatic and it feels like you are forced to agree with his or her opinions.
I have not tried book sleeves, I’ll have to go find some! Most of the books I read nowadays are library books, and they have protectors so I’m not as worried. But if I read my own books, I only take the hard covers with me in my bag and take off the paper part that covers them so it doesn’t get ruined. I’ve seen people create paper covers, but they get torn up or wet from water bottles, and don’t provide much help. But your idea sounds great! Thank you! 😄
